Southwest Virginia Regional Substance Abuse Coalition
 
In Southwest Virginina, substance abuse is part of the cycle of family violence.  The number of drug-exposed infants has tripled in the past 3 years.  Child Protective Serivces (CPS) complaints involving substance abuse have increased by 800 in the past 3 years, therefore, resulting foster care cases have dramatically increased.  Substance abuse involvement makes family reunification much more difficult to achieve.  CSA expenditures have risen more than $1 million in the past two years.

 Vision Statement

 

To develop a coalition of human service agencies that works to establish a continuum of substance abuse related services to meet the needs for family support, family preservation and reunification, through a sustainable collaborative process.

 Mission Statement

 

A consortium of partners will provide a systemic continuum of holistic treatment for substance abuse to meet the needs for family support, preservation and reunification as well as self-sufficiency.

 Core Values

 

  • A continuum of services that includes prevention through intensive inpatient treatment should be available.
  • Services should be holistic.
  • Services should be delivered as part of a coordinated system of care.
  • Services should maximize self-sufficiency.
  • Services should be gender specific.
  • Services should be coordinated by a team consisting of service providers and customers.
  • Services will be provided on a continual basis.
